About Us The First Tee is a nationwide initiative with a focus on providing children low cost access to the game of golf. Spearheaded by the PGA of America, PGA Tour, USGA, LPGA Tour, and Augusta National Golf Club, The First Tee has the necessary components to positively affect children through the game of golf. The First Tee of Olympia was started in June 1999 and is operated under the Pacific Northwest PGA Junior Fund Inc., a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation. The First Tee of Olympia program is held at one of the finest practice facilities in the Northwest; The PGA Golf Center. The primary purpose of The First Tee of Olympia is to introduce, teach and promote the game of golf to youth. Under the guidance of PGA professionals, youth from the ages of 8-17 receive on-going golf classes and valuable life skill lessons at little or no cost. The First Tee of Olympia’s curriculum is structured to be a continuing education process that guides youth throughout their school years into young adulthood.
Currently we teach our students at the PGA Golf Center in Olympia;

Impacting Beyond the Program Golf is a sport, challenging and available to anyone, regardless of height, strength, or size. It is an individual sport, a lifetime sport, one that requires discipline and practice and provides mental and physical challenges. It appeals to many who have not had the interest or the ability to play traditional team sports. The children and youth in our country, and our county, face significant challenges growing up into today’s world. One of them is obesity and related health issues due to passive lifestyles and the lack of outdoor activities and exercises. Students who develop and sustain an interest in the sport of golf are far less likely to be negatively impacted by such challenges. |
